Cafe Scientifique
Café Scientifique of Iowa City, IA is a monthly meeting Where anyone can come to explore and debate the latest ideas in science, mathematics, medicine and technology. Scientists from the UI and other institutions explain the latest developments in their cutting-edge research. The Café Scientifique of Iowa City is sponsored in part by the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Iowa, the Society of Physics Students, the American Physical Society and the American Association of Physics Teachers.
Camera Club, Iowa City
To offer information in the art and science of photography, to stimulate creativity and experimentation, to increase the knowledge and practice of photography, to increase our knowledge and ability in photography. There are monthly inter-club contests in digital images, prints, and slides. At meetings, there are different programs on various how-to information on photography. There are 20-25 members.
Cancer Information Service
Provide information and resources to anyone with questions about cancer.
We also facilitate support groups. All services are free. Organized 1986.
Cardiac Support Group, Mercy Hospital
Organized Jan. 1985. This group provides monthly education and support meetings; a heart-healthy luncheon is also available for $5 (payable at door). All meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at 11:30 in the McAuley room, Mercy Medical Plaza 1. A presentation follows at 12 noon. Reservations are requested no later than the Friday prior to each meeting. Call Mercy On Call, 358-2767 or 1-800-358-2767.
No meeting in the months of January, June, July or August.
Caregiver Support Group
Organized early 2003. Educational opportunities/experts in care for individuals with Alzheimer's/Dementia. Support of caregivers
Carpenters Local Union #1260
Organized in 1902. Affiliated with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners. Principal activity: attempting to secure decent and reasonable wages and working conditions for all carpenters.
Chabad Lubavitch of Iowa City
Organized 2002, locally. Weekly Sabbat services. Friday night
and Saturday Shabbat meals. Activities for children. Weekly Torah class.

Chamber of Commerce, Iowa City Area
The Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce actively fosters a better business environment through advocacy, connections and education.
Chamber Singers of Iowa City
Chamber Singers of Iowa City, organized in 1970, is a community-based group of amateur and professional musicians selected annually by audition. Members pay annual dues and perform 3 concerts each season. The concerts feature the best in classical music by composers from the Renaissance Era to modern times and are most often accompanied by full orchestra or chamber orchestra. Auditions are required. Children of Promise Mentoring Program
Children of Promise One-on-One in Johnson County is a mentoring program for youth 12-17 who have a parent in the penal system. We match our kids with caring adults who serve as role models and friends. We are a part of Community Correction s Improvement Association and work to stop generational incarceration.
Chinese School of Iowa City
Activities include learning Chinese and practicing programs relating to Chinese culture. School has two locations: North Liberty Chinese Church, 570 Madison Ave, and a classroom at 450 Hawkeye Drive.

We are a community organization founded in the 1960s by parents from Taiwan.
Our school teaches the Chinese (Mandarin) language using traditional Chinese characters and (BoPoMoFo). We take pride in our cultural traditions and foster a learning environment where children develop a life-long interest in their cultural identities through language acquisition, cultural exploration, and community engagement.

Christian Women's Club, Iowa City Area
Organized mid-1960's. Interdenominational. Affiliated with Stonecroft Ministries. Monthly luncheons (2nd Wednesday) feature a local speaker and an inspirational keynote speaker. Promote local/area businesses as well as individual interests. Prayer Connections: 9:30 am, first Wednesday of the month in private homes. Stonecroft Bible Studies: Led by approved guides in private homes.
Church Women United, Johnson County
Church Women United is a racially, culturally, theologically inclusive,
international Christian Women's movement, recognized as an official NGO by
the United Nations. CWU celebrates unity in diversity and works for a world
of peace & justice. It's Quadrennial (2008-2012) Priorities are 4-fold:
working to promote Peace, Economic Justice, better Health Care & Care for
the Environment. The Johnson County unit currently represents 25 churches,
& cooperates with the Inter-Faith Religious Council of Iowa City.

4 Ecumenical Celebrations per year:
(March)-World Day of Prayer, (May)-May Friendship Day, (Sept)-Human Rights
Celebration, & (Nov)-World Community Day, all open to the public.
City Circle Acting Company of Coralville
Primary purpose is production of dramatic, musical and performing arts pieces of the best possible quality for the enjoyment of
the public. Members design and execute the theatre productions.
Community educational outreach programs are emphasized.
City of Literature
City of Literature USA celebrates and supports literary activities on a local, regional, national and international level, connecting readers and writers through the power of story. We host 4 annual events including The Iowa City Book Festival, Paul Engle Day, One Book Two Book: A Celebration of Children's Literature in the City of Literature and World Book and Copyright Day.

Classy Chassy Cruisers
The Classy Chassy Cruisers is a Not-For-Profit and was founded in 2001 to encourage camaraderie among car enthusiasts who believe in the preservation,
restoration and enjoyment of classic automobiles of all years, makes and
models - new and old and in-between. We started as a small group of
interested persons and continuously recruit new members and sponsors who
share our interest in enjoying classic cars and trucks. CCC coordinate six
cruise-in shows the last Friday nights of the months beginning in April thru
September at the Coralridge Mall, Coralville and the Houby Days Car Show, Cedar Rapids in May. Each year CCC members select a charity to donate to. Funds
received are used to cover the cost of operation, the cost of printing and
mailing the monthly newsletter, to supply items for the various scheduled
activities, and to pay for the extra things that make our adventures more
enjoyable.
Clean Air for Everyone Johnson County
CAFE Johnson County is a coalition of parents, health professionals and health organizations dedicated to reducing tobacco-related death and disease. The coalition has four goal areas - youth prevention, help for tobacco users who want to quit, secondhand smoke education, and eliminating disparities of tobacco use. The coalition sponsors public forums, promotes smoke free environments and provides training for youth and adult tobacco control advocates. Tax deductible donations can be made to the coalition. Club West
Strengthens and promotes athletic programs in all west side schools. Sponsors elementary/junior high nights basketball program for grades 5 & 6. Informational brochure available. Organized in February, 1987.
Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Johnson Count
We organize responses to needs of victims; support community actions which hold abusers accountable and work to educate the community about domestic violence. We provide twice a year training for people working in systems which serve victims of domestic violence and their children.
Coalition for Racial Justice
Joining together to promote racial justice through action, education and empowerment.

Goals:
• Exposing the systemic racism present in our local institutions to enact change in current policies and practices towards equity.
• Bringing community voices front and center to impact local issues affecting our lives.
• Increasing the ability of community leaders – white and people of color – to identify racism and intervene effectively on individual and systemic levels.
• Mobilizing concerned members of the community to impact real-time racial incidents as they occur in our community.
• Building authentic multiracial community through a commitment to mutual care and respect.
Coffeehouse Club
Activities include a variety of recreational activities, i.e. bowling, games, trips, swimming, picnics, etc. This club is designed to help adults with emotional disabilities work towards independent and constructive usage of their leisure time.
COGS UE Local 896
Labor union organizing graduate student employees at UI. Affiliated with the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America. Activities: organizing graduate student employees at the University of Iowa for fair wages and improved working conditions. Information and assistance to graduate employees of all types relating to their employment.

Compeer of Johnson County
The mission of Compeer of Johnson County is to reduce the loneliness and isolation of adults receiving mental health treatment by developing structured friendships with community volunteers.
Confucius Institute at The University of Iowa
The Confucius Institute offers Iowans courses in Chinese language and culture. Community classes at the beginning and advanced levels are held in Iowa City. Family classes and for-credit University of Iowa classes are also offered in Iowa City.

Connections
Connections is an organization of individuals and families that comes together to form, build and sustain queer community in the Iowa City-Cedar Rapids area. We periodically hold free monthly forums including the "Big Gay Expo" each fall at the hotelVetro (across from the I.C. Public Library). We also sponsor a number of small interest/activity groups such as Spiritual Seekers and the Rainbow Reading Group. Formed 2004.

The Iowa City/Coralville Area CVB advances the economic vitality and quality of life
for residents and visitors as Iowa’s premier destination.
Funding is for loans and grants.
Meetings held 3rd Thurs. of the month at 4:00 PM at the main office.
Meetings for various business and cultural entities held regularly.
Cosgrove Institute
The school building was purchased in 1991 by a group
of Cosgrove area citizens, and The Cosgrove Institute was organized
in 1992. First the building was repaired and restored using funds
from renting out the classrooms as studios. Sports teams rent the Gym
for practice, and the Gym and the associated kitchen are used for
wedding receptions, family reunions. The Kitchen and the library can
be rented for smaller groups. The Cosgrove institute also runs an
annual Pheasant hunt to raise additional
funds for scholarships, and for an occasional disabled neighbor.

We host a dance very Thursday night starting at 7:00 at the Eagles Club in Iowa City. Country line and couples dancing. We dance for fun at various fairs, parades, nursing homes and events in the area. We have also taught Girl scout troops, college groups and occasionally host workshops. We also volunteer and raise money for the Jerry Lewis telethon and the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. You can find us on Facebook at IC Country Dancers.

Creative Anachronism, Society for,
The Shire of Shadowdale is located in the Iowa City Area. The SCA is a non-profit educational group interested in re-creating the Middle Ages (600 AD to 1600 AD). Activities include cooking arts, sciences, chivalry, heraldry, culture, combat, archery, costuming, historical research, etc. Demonstrations and presentations on the subject of the Middle Ages can be arranged for interested groups or schools. Note: We welcome new members from the community at large.

Crisis Center, Johnson County
We are your first call in Johnson County. Crisis intervention services include phone-based counseling from the 24-Hour Crisis Line, 319-351-0140, available 365 days a year; online emotional support from Crisis Chat, available via our website, www.jccrisiscenter.org; walk-in counseling available from 9:00 AM - 10:00 PM at 1121 Gilbert Court in Iowa City; and the Suicide Survivor's Support Group, for those who have lost someone to suicide, which meets the first Thursday of each month. Suicide awareness programs, suicide prevention training, and general interests programs are available for individuals, groups and businesses. The Crisis Center Food Bank provides weekly supplemental food bags and other household services. Our Emergency Assistance program provides limited financial help to avoid eviction or loss of utilities (please visit our website for complete details). Disaster recovery and relief services are available when natural disasters affect the community. We also offer excellent volunteer opportunities with extensive skills training.
Crop Walk, Johnson County
The 2012 Johnson County CROP Walk will be held on Sunday, April 1, 2012, beginning at 1:30 PM from the Iowa City Recreation Center rear parking lot.
Affiliated with Church World Service/CROP. Money is raised through the Annual Crop Walks to help alleviate hunger in
Johnson County and worldwide. CROP has educational materials concerning hunger issues. 25% of the money raised goes to Crisis Center. Crop Walk will be April 10, 2011 same time as last year.
Total raised last year $28,957.45. 25% went to JC Crisis Center $7,233.11.


Cultural Corridor Alliance, Iowa
Formed 2005. The Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance (ICCA) is an alliance of over 150 cultural organizations in the Eastern Iowa Corridor. The mission of the ICCA is to promote the varied cultural activities of its partner organizations and to nurture a sustainable cultural community. This is done through advocacy-focused events, educational programming, arts and culture awareness, cultural tourism, and building strong relationships throughout the community.
