| Information: | Friends of Historic Preservation is a non-profit organization that supports the efforts of the Iowa City Historic Preservation Commission and advocates saving older neighborhoods and structures. Friends operates the "Salvage Barn" in cooperation with the City of Iowa City to recycle architectural materials and old house parts. During building season, the Salvage Barn is open every Saturday from 9am until 1pm. The Barn is located at the Iowa City landfill, two miles west of Iowa City off Melrose Avenue. Friends provides important educational resources for the Iowa City community, including the "Who To" guide for restoration. |
