Spotlight on the Collection: Nonfiction Books

Stop and browse our new, permanent display of nonfiction books. The Reference Desk staff have pulled together newer titles on these popular topics: In the News, House & Garden, Health & Well-being, Money, and Biography & Memoir. Our goal is to tempt you with beautiful book jackets and other current and relevant examples of the wealth of knowledge we have shelved on the second floor. You will find them in the first set of shelves as you head toward the nonfiction collection. We hope you walk away with your arms loaded, saying "I've been meaning to read about this ... and this ... and that!”.

SPOTLIGHT ON THE COLLECTION: ENVIRONMENTAL COLLECTION GROWS

The Iowa City Public Library is the grateful recipient of a generous gift of over 310 books and DVDs on environmental sustainability from Clipper Windpower, Cedar Rapids, a rapidly growing company engaged in wind energy technology, wind turbine manufacturing and wind project development and the Sustainable Living Coalition. The collection of materials is a perfect match with the ECO Iowa City initiative. Items in the collection range from books on how to design an edible landscape to building a brick oven; from green living handbooks to creative, innovative and ecologically sound gardening practices.
