An author search may include the personal names of authors, artists, illustrators, composers, performers, or directors, as well as the names of corporations, organizations, or government bodies.
For personal names, type the last name first, then the first name if you know it.| For example: | austen jane |
| austen | |
| picasso pablo | |
| beethoven | |
| sinatra fr | |
| spielberg s |
| For example: | general motors |
| rolling stones | |
| united states congress | |
| american red cross |
An author search is automatically truncated at the last character typed; the catalog will retrieve all authors' names which begin with those characters. Generally, the less you type the more authors you will retrieve. For example, typing an author search for "rollin" will retrieve all of the records containing "Rolling Stones" as an author, as well as all those containing "Rollin" (but not those containing "Rollyson"). Entering "roll" will retrieve all records containing authors whose names begin with "roll", such as "Rollason," "Rollin," "Rolling Stones," "Rollyson", etc.
If there is more than one author whose name begins with what was typed in, then a list of those authors will be displayed. Clicking on an author's name will give you a list of that author's works.
If there is only one author whose name begins with what was typed in, then a list of that author's works will be displayed.
Clicking on the title link or “Check Copy Status” will give you that title's information, including copy availability, location, related subject headings, etc. Here you may click any linked author’s name, series title, or subject heading to search for related items.
If you type a personal name in direct order (first name, then last name), the catalog will offer to redirect your search in reverse order.
If you do not find what you need, please ask a librarian for assistance.
