A title search is automatically truncated at the last character typed; the catalog will retrieve all titles which begin with those characters. Generally, the less you type the more titles you will retrieve. For example, typing a title search for "all the p" will retrieve "All the President's Men," as well as "All the Pretty Horses" (but not "All the King's Men"). Entering "all the" will retrieve all three, as well as "All the Best" through "All the World's a Stage."

If only one title (in one format) begins with what was typed, then that title's information will be displayed, including copy availability, location, related subject headings, etc. Here you may click any linked author’s name, series title, or subject heading to search for related items.

If more than one title begins with what was typed, (or more than one format for one title) then a list of those titles (or formats) will be displayed. Clicking on the title link or “Check Copy Status” button will give you that title's information.

Series may also be searched as titles. They will be displayed either as one title with many entries which, when clicked, will display individual titles, or as numbered entries, or both. For example: Nancy Drew mystery stories -- 90 entries ; or Nancy Drew mystery stories #103 -- 1 entry.

To find a title that begins with a word normally considered to be an initial article like "A to Z, the Alphabet," you may need to type the initial article twice: "a a to z the alphabet."
