- Conduct a flying demonstration at the Iowa City
Municipal Airport during the SERTOMA full-scale fly-in last Sunday of August. Various video cassettes have been purchased by club members on the subject of radio
control aero-modeling and donated to the library. During appropriate
weather, members fly radio controlled model aircraft at the Aerohawk Flying Field, located adjacent to the Iowa City Solid Waste Disposal
Site. The Aerohawks perform a free airshow every year on the Sunday
after July 4 at the Aerohawk RC Flying Field. Visitors are welcome at the field.

- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Johnson County
- Big Brothers Big Sisters was founded in 1975 to provide positive adult
companionship for children. There are three options for volunteers; all
involve mentoring children. One option is the Community Based Program in
which a volunteer makes a one year time commitment, spending some time
each week or some time every other week with a child. Another option is
School Buddies. In this program a volunteers sees a child at school,
same day, same time each week for about an hour. The third option is the
Academic Mentoring Program. This program is similar to the School
Buddies program except that it has a stronger academic component. All
matches, either community based or school based are supported by
professional staff. No fee is charged to clients or volunteers.
Volunteers report the following results for children matched at least
six months, improvement in self confidence, improved attitude in school,
improved relationships with family.
- Bike Library
- The Bike Library is donation-based and volunteer-run. We
provide good, used bicycles to anyone who wants one. Patrons place a
deposit on a bike to use for six months. If the patron returns the bike within the six months, the deposit is refunded minus damages. If the patron wants to keep the bike, the Bike Library keeps the deposit after
the six months. No more needs to be done.
Best way to contact us is to stop by during retail hours, 10-1 on Saturdays. Donations can also be dropped off on Repair nights (6-8 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays), and Salvage night (7-9 pm Wednesdays). - Bird Club, Iowa City
- ICBC holds field trips to area woodlands, marshes and other natural areas to view birds. Birdwatchers of all skill levels are welcome. Regular meetings feature interesting programs about birds and other natural history topics. Special events include the Christmas Bird Count (mid-Dec.), fall Hawk Watch (Sept.), Spring Migration Count (mid-May), and the Butterfly Count (mid-July). - Classy Chassy Cruisers
- The Classy Chassy Cruisers is a Not-For-Profit and was founded in 2001 to encourage camaraderie among car enthusiasts who believe in the preservation,
restoration and enjoyment of classic automobiles of all years, makes and
models - new and old and in-between. We started as a small group of
interested persons and continuously recruit new members and sponsors who
share our interest in enjoying classic cars and trucks. CCC coordinate six
cruise-in shows the last Friday nights of the months beginning in April thru
September at the Sycamore Mall, Iowa City and the Houby Days Car Show, Cedar
Rapids in May. Each year CCC members select a charity to donate to. Funds
received are used to cover the cost of operation, the cost of printing and
mailing the monthly newsletter, to supply items for the various scheduled
activities, and to pay for the extra things that make our adventures more
enjoyable.

- Cosgrove Institute
- The school building was purchased in 1991 by a group
of Cosgrove area citizens, and The Cosgrove Institute was organized
in 1992. First the building was repaired and restored using funds
from renting out the classrooms as studios. Sports teams rent the Gym
for practice, and the Gym and the associated kitchen are used for
wedding receptions, family reunions. The Kitchen and the library can
be rented for smaller groups. The Cosgrove institute also runs an
annual Pheasant hunt and an occasional raffle to raise additional
funds for scholarships, and for an occasional disabled neighbor.

- Formed spring, 2006. Club is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to educate members and the general public about railroading and model railroading. Club is building an HO scale model railroad in a 2000 square foot space. The model has a midwestern theme, is designed for operation, and uses digital command control.

Special services; Scholarship to University students, high school students, music camps, etc., donations to local organizations such as Chamber Singers of Iowa City, Informational material, yearly programs and membership booklet.

- Hold auditions, festivals and workshops for music teachers. Provides competitive and non-competitive opportunities as well as ongoing musical development for the area students. National organization provides a magazine American Music Teacher; state organization publishes the Iowa Music Teacher-available to members.
- Musicians Protective Association, Local 450
- Organized since 1937. Affiliated with American Federation of Musicians. Provides protection and support of the local professional musicians, and members perform concerts for residents in hospitals and nursing and retirement homes and educational music programs in the school system, preferably with co-sponsorship funding. Four meetings a year
proposed at the November meeting and confirmed at each meeting. From time to time, special meetings are scheduled.

- Narcotics Anonymous is a nonprofit organization of men and women for whom drugs has become a major problem. Not affiliated with any other organization, no fees or dues, no pledges to sign, no promises to make. Anyone may join regardless of age, race, sexual identity, creed, religion or lack of religion. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using.
- Natural Family Planning
- Natural family planning classes teach a method of achieving or avoiding pregnancy by observing daily signs and symptoms of ovulation. Classes are held in two yearly sessions of four classes each. Contact Mercy on Call to register for the program at 319 or 800- 358-2767, $40 fee per couple, but no one is denied service because of inability to pay.

- Neighborhood Centers of Johnson County offers neighborhood-based services and activities for children and families in
low-income areas of Johnson County. Services for children include NAEYC
accredited childcare, afterschool programs, summer day camps, intensive
kindergarten readiness programs, teen groups, pre-employment and tutoring programs.
Adult activities include parent education and support groups, ESL and GED classes; home visits for parents with young children, nutrition counseling,
food distribution and transportation.

- The Nest program seeks to reduce the incidence of birth defects, low-birthweight, and infant deaths by promoting educational opportunities and early consistent prenatal care. Participants have an opportunity to utilize existing health, welfare, and educational services available within Johnson County.
