Children's Room Displays
First Ladies of Fashion: Dolls Created by Marilu Kuhl
December 1 - January 31Marilu Kuhl of North Liberty has fashioned Smithsonian copies of First Lady gowns for the 12" dolls since 1982. She began her hobby after a long-time interest in the First Ladies and their lives in the White House. Among those displayed are Mary Todd Lincoln and Martha Washington. The Nancy Reagan and Barbara Bush dolls are on loan from the Old Capitol Doll Club of Iowa. Rounding out the exhibit is a New York Herald newspaper article from Saturday, April 15th, 1865 detailing Lincoln's assassination. [more]
