Patrons can view their circulation records online by clicking on the My Account link on the red bar. Your circulation record will show what materials you have checked out and their due dates. You may select the item(s) you wish to renew, and once renewed, you will see the new due date.
Renew By Phone
Patrons may also renew materials with the automated Telephone Renewal System, available during the hours the Library is clsoed. On a touch-tone phone, call the Library at 319.356.5200, and choose the option. "To Renew Library Materials". During open hours, Library staff will assist you with renewals when you call.
You will be prompted throughout the phone session to enter your library card number and the barcode number of the items you want to renew. You will be given the choice of renewing all materials you have checked out or renewing item by item. Once an item is renewed, the automated renewal system will tell you the new due date.
Renewals Not Allowed
Renewing items online or via the Telephone Renewal System may not be allowed if your library card has expired, if you have fines of $10.00 or more, if your card has been blocked from use, or if the item you are trying to renew is overdue or has a hold on it. You can pay your fines online 24-hours a day with a Visa, Master Card, or Discover. Just login to your account, click on your fine balance, and then select the button labeled "Pay Online."
Please verify that new due dates have been provided for all of the items you attempt to renew. If your attempt to renew materials is not successful, please call the Library at 319.356.5200.
Other Renewal Information:
Two Renewals: Items eligible for two renewals include most adult and children's books, books on disc, music CDs, toys and puzzles, and adult nonfiction DVDs.
One Renewal: Items eligible for one renewal include books and audiovisual items labeled as "NEW", movie and entertainment TV DVDs, children's DVDs, and adult and children's magazines.
After an item has been renewed the maximum number of times, it must be checked in and shelved before it is available to the same patron or his or her assignee.
There are no renewals for items on hold for someone else, or for art-to-go, equipment, video games, holiday items, or express items.
