My Library CardYour Library card at the Iowa City Public Library does more than just check out books! Your card allows you to check out library materials and equipment, use audiovisual viewing stations and Internet computers in the Library, and view your Library account online to check due dates, renew materials or place holds. |
Check Out Books, Movies, Music and More
The Library circulates materials for patrons of all ages and in many different formats: printed books, books on disc or tape, movies on DVD and video, music on compact discs, art prints, toys and puzzles, and storytime and book club kits.
Monitor Your Circulation Record
You can see your circulation record online by logging in with your library card number and a password. You can check due dates, renew materials, place or cancel holds, pay fines with a credit card, and choose to save your reading history. If you have an email address, you can turn on a special feature in your account to receive notices about new arrivals for authors or subjects of your choice.
Use Internet Workstations in the Library
With your library card and password, you can log on to computers with Internet access and word processing software.
Use Online Information Sources from Home or Office
The Library's online information resources may be used by residents of Iowa City and areas served by contracts of service: rural Johnson County and the cities of Hills and University Heights. Log in with your library card and password.
Sign Up for Listening and Viewing Stations or Study Rooms
Your library card will serve as identification if you wish to use library equipment to view a video or DVD, listen to discs or use a study room.
