803. Bulletin Board Policy

The purpose of the Library's public bulletin boards is to make space freely available to display dated information about events sponsored by or benefiting non-profit organizations.

803.2

The purpose of the Children's Room Bulletin Board is to display events of special interest to children and/or adults living and working with them. For-profit event information is posted on the Children's Room Bulletin Board if it specifically addresses literacy, reading, and/or library-related concerns.

803.3

All items must be reviewed and posted by Library staff. Content of posters must meet existing laws regarding obscenity, libel, defamation of character, and invasion of privacy.

803.4

Petitions may not be posted but may be left on a clipboard on the bulletin board counter.

803.5

Posters announcing a series of events or ongoing meetings will be posted as space allows. These items will not be posted for more than thirty days, and, if space is limited, may not remain posted throughout the duration of the events of meetings.

803.6

Due to space constraints, posters may be limited because of size of the poster or the proximity of the event to Iowa City. Priority is given for events in Johnson County.

803.7

The Library will not be responsible for monitoring the continued display of any poster or petition. Because of space limitations, the Library cannot guarantee that all eligible posters will be displayed.

803.8

Posting of materials does not imply Library endorsement of content; nor will the Library accept responsibility for the accuracy of the statements made in such materials.

803.9

Name and contact information for the group sponsoring or benefiting from the event must be part of the flyer.
