Pay for Print Service - Your Library Print CardHave you ever wanted to print a newspaper article from the Library's reader-printer or tax forms at one of the Library's copiers and found that you needed to get a pocket full of change before you could proceed! The new library print card the TRACCard, will help to solve this problem. |
What is the TRACCard used for?TRACCard readers have been added to the Library's two public copy machines and to the microfilm and microfiche reader-printers so that copies can be paid through a TRACSystems debit card. The coin boxes are also attached to this equipment for those who wish to continue to use cash. Printers have also been installed in the Children's Web/Multimedia area, Refnet and Web Access areas of the library. The TracCard will be needed to print from these workstations in these areas. What does theTRACCard Cost?New cards may be purchased for a minimum of $2.50. The 50 cents pays for the cost of the card and $2.00 will be credited as the value of the card to be used for copying and printing in the library. Where may they be purchased? You may buy a TRACCard at the Registration Desk in the Circulation Department. Can I reuse the TRACCard? You are encouraged to reuse the card. We have installed a TRACCard Center self-service unit on the post just opposite the Page Station for revaluing your print card. To make reusing the card especially attractive the TRACCard Center is programmed to give you a 10 per cent bonus each time you revalue your TRACCard. You may also revalue your card at the Registration desk however, we will not be offering a bonus from this desk. |

What's the maximum value I may put on my card?$50. How much do copies and printouts cost?Photocopies and reader-printer copier continue to cost 10 cents per page, whether you use cash or the print card. Printouts cost 10 cents per page. What happens if I don't have enough value on my card to complete my print job?The copier will not print our until the full value is available. Revalue your TRACCard and try the print again. Does the system work with other debit cards? No. Only the TRACCard purchased at ICPL will work with the print card readers here at the Library. The card is thinner than the debit card used by the University of Iowa and has different coding on the magnetic strip. What if the card is lost?Be sure to put your name on the TRACCard name strip. If it is lost, you may inquire at the Lost and Found through the AV desk, or at the Registration Desk. Please treat your card as carefully as you do cash. We cannot refund the value of lost cards. What if the card is damaged?Like credit cards, the magnetic strip may become unreadable if the card is demagnetized, put through the wash a few times, or bent. Rubbing the mag strip gently against a clean cloth may restore its useability. When the TRACCard loses its ability to read, however, you will need to purchase a new one at the Registration Desk. | |
