How To Make A Donation

Thank you for your interest in giving to the Iowa City Public Library Friends Foundation.

Private contributions expand and replace materials in the varied Library collections (books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes, audiotapes), enhance technological services, build community educational programs, and encourage literary and educational discovery and sharing of knowledge for all.


The Iowa City Public Library Friends Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization. Your gift is tax-deductible in accordance with IRS guidelines for 501(c)3 organizations.

You can help the Iowa City Public Library in many ways, and it's easy to make a tax-deductible donation!

  1. Donate online! Follow this link to donate to the ICPL Friends Foundation using your Visa or MasterCard at our secure online giving page.

  2. Celebrate friends and relatives by making honorary and memorial gifts. A bookplate bearing the name of the honoree will be placed in the book(s) purchased with your gift, and included in the Friends Foundation Annual Report. Donate online.

  5. Long-range estate and financial planning can provide significant gifts to the Library, while benefiting your tax position. The Iowa City Public Library may be designated as beneficiary of an entire estate, a specific bequest, a living trust or a charitable remainder trust. Other planned giving options include gifts of stocks, securities, or properties. Email the Iowa City Public Library Development Office for information, or call 319.356.5249.

  6. You may be able to increase your gift by participating in your employer's matching gift program. Consult with your Human Resources department to find out if this is an option for you and send us the required paperwork with your contribution.

  7. Shop at, or donate items to The Book End, Iowa City Public Library's used bookstore.

  8. Make regular contributions through automatic deductions from your bank or credit union accounts. Contact the Library Development Office to sign up.

  9. Donate your time as an ICPL volunteer! Volunteer at The Book End, ICPL's used bookstore or help with special fundraising events. Or serve on the Board of Directors of the ICPL Friends Foundation.
