Wii Gaming Systems
Wii Systems are offered as a kit containing 1 game console, 2 remotes controllers with nunchuks, 1 sensor bar, 1 AC adapter, 1 AV cable, and 1 Wii Sports game disc. All items are contained in G-PAK case. Remotes each require 2 AA batteries (not included).
Wii Systems are checked-out and returned to the Checkout Desk, and you must be a resident of Iowa City or areas covered by contracts for service (Hills, University Heights, and rural Johnson County). Wii Gaming System Online manuals are available if you have trouble with the equipment. You may also call the Fiction Desk at 319.356.5200, option 4 for staff assistance.
Wii consoles require staff-assisted holds in order to be checked out. Holds for Nintendo Wii consoles must be placed by Fiction Desk staff, 319.356.5200, option 4. Wii consoles may not be renewed.
Persons under 18 years of age must have a completed "Consent form for Minor to Check Out Wii Gaming Equipment." including a signature from a parent or guardian.
Video Games
The Library offers a variety of Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Xbox 360, and Sony Playstation 3 games. There is a collection of Children's Video Games specifically for the Wii. Only two games may be checked out at one time.

Chess and Checker Pieces
The giant chess and checker pieces are available for use with the giant game board on City Plaza beteen the Library entrance and the children's playground. The 32 plastic chess pieces are 8" to 12" high and 4" to 4¾" wide and are contained in a nylon duffel bag. The 24 plastic checkers pieces each measure 10" by 3½". The set of checkers is comes with a nylon duffel bag and a smaller bag of 6 t-metal rods for "kinging."
The chess and checkers sets check out overnight and may not be reserved in advance or renewed. Pick up and return sets at the Checkout Desk. There are no residency or age requirements for checkout.
Toys
A wide variety of learning toys and games are available for home use such as puppets, puzzles, and parachutes.
