The Iowa City Public Library will participate in the Archives Crawl on Saturday, February 24. Learn more about local resources and archival items available at the Library in the newly expanded Computer Lab from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day.

Library staff and speakers from local historical groups, including Friends of Historic Preservation, the Johnson County Historical Society and Historic Foodies, will share insights into collecting and preserving history. Come for one, two or all of the following programs:

  • 11 to 11:15 a.m. – How to Find My Ancestors: A Genealogy Workshop
  • 11:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. – Giving Your Personal History a Digital Makeover
  • 12 to 12:15 p.m. – Historic Preservation: The Original Whole-House Makeover, presented by Friends of Historic Preservation
  • 12:30 to 12:45 p.m. – Local History resources at ICPL or “What Really Happened Back in the Day?”
  • 1 to 1:15 p.m. – Iowa City’s Most Famous Athlete You Never Heard Of
  • 1:30 to 1:45 p.m. – Curating the 2006 Tornado Tour: Building a Strong Collection with the Community
  • 2 to 2:15 p.m. – Johnson County Historical Society: Who We are and What We Do
  • 2:30 to 2:45 p.m. – CSI: Investigating a Murder with Local History Resources
