Press ReleaseCelebrate National Bookmobile Week with ICPL

National Bookmobile Day is typically a one-day celebration, but the Iowa City Public Library is so excited to commemorate nearly one year of Bookmobile service, we’re partying all week!

Anyone who visits the Bookmobile April 9 through April 12 will receive a sweet treat and other goodies. Additionally, our elementary school stops that week – Monday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Lemme, Tuesday from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. at Grant Wood, and Thursday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Mark Twain – will include a visit from the City of Iowa City Transit Department and one of the City’s new Transit buses.

The Bookmobile schedule can be found at www.icpl.org/bookmobile.

National Bookmobile Day falls on Wednesday, April 11. An annual celebration since 2010, National Bookmobile Day recognizes the role of bookmobiles and direct-delivery outreach services in fulfilling the mission of libraries. It’s sponsored by the American Library Association’s Office for Literacy and Outreach Services, the Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services, and the Association for Rural & Small Libraries.
