The Iowa City Public Library’s new Digital Media Lab officially opens in June, so classes that month will focus on the great resources that are offered in the space.
Want to make videos? Learn how to upload your files, clip away unneeded footage, and add titles and transitions from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 4, or from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, June 15. This two-hour class will provide instruction and give participants time to try out their skills. Bring your own digital footage, or use practice footage, and a flash drive or another way to store a large file.
Whether you want to create a logo for a business, a cute and unique graphic for a card, backgrounds or fabric designs, or photo collages, you can do it with Illustrator. Come with a project in mind and a flash drive to save your work from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, or 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 30. Bring your own photos and/or artwork to be scanned.
Unable to make these classes? Attend a Digital Media Lab orientation so you can use the room’s technology to digitize your current photo, slides or VHS collections, clean up or edit digital images or video, or create new digital work such as graphics, animations and more. You must have a valid Library Card and some experience with the programs and devices you’ll use. Orientations will be held on June 6, June 13, and June 27 from 5 to 6 p.m.
