Press ReleaseICPL announces Privacy Classes for Adults

Every year, the American Library Association holds a Choose Privacy Week in the first week of May. Given the recent headlines regarding Facebook and data breaches, many users might not feel that their online data is safe, so the Iowa City Public Library is hosting two programs on internet privacy.

Join us at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, for Internet Safety: Protecting your Privacy. We will talk about digital footprints, what your web browser knows about you, and how to browse the internet safely.

A class for Parents and Tweens will be offered on Monday, May 7, at 5 p.m. Tweens will learn about internet safety through coding, games and more in the Storytime Room while their parents attend class in the Digital Media Lab. The class will teach parents how to talk to their kids about their online activities and provide safe environments for using the web at home.

Classes are free and space is limited, so patrons should register early. To register for classes at the Library, visit http://calendar.icpl.org/categories/classes-tech-help to register online. You can also register by calling the Library at 319-356-5200. All classes will be held in the Digital Media Lab on the second floor.
