Press ReleaseTotally Tweens writing session for Literary Kiosk Nov. 8

Hey tweens, do you want to be a published author? Here’s your chance!

Totally Tweens: Publish Your Writing in the Literary Kiosk will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, in the Storytime Room. Two members of the University of Iowa’s writing faculty will help you craft flash fiction, poetry and short essays for the literary kiosk located in the Iowa City Public Library Lobby.

Literary kiosks encourage on-the-spot reading and literacy in a quick, easy, and engaging manner. Users simply press the one-, three- or five-minute button on the kiosk and instantly receive a free print of literary work.

Colin Kostelecky and Brittany Borghi will lead generative writing exercises and on-the-spot workshopping. Please bring your favorite writing medium — pens, pencils, papers, or laptops — and be ready to create. You can also bring a finished 8,000-character submission.

Totally Tween programs are for students in third through sixth grades.
