World War I Honor Roll

Wednesday, December 19, 2018 to Sunday, January 27, 2019

1st Floor Gallery Display

Our library will host the State Historical Museum of Iowa's traveling display honoring more than 4,000 Iowans who lost their lives a century ago during World War I.

The display features thousands of names and corresponding photos the State Historical Society collected from Iowa families who lost loved ones during the war. The society sent out an initial call, in 1920, and then again in 2017, to shore up the official records during the war’s 100th anniversary. The new exhibit is the result of that research – and a tribute to a generation of Iowans who sacrificed their lives to the cause of freedom.
