In celebration of UNESCO's International Jazz Day, the Iowa City UNESCO City of Literature organization and the Iowa City Public Library partner to host a presentation by John Rapson, director of the jazz studies program in the University of Iowa School of Music, who will discuss his multimedia jazz production "Hot Tamale Louie." Rapson and collaborators created the musical performance based on a New Yorker article about an Afghani who left his home near the Khyber Pass, wandered through India, and ended up years later in Sheridan, Wyoming.
"Hot Tamale Louie" will be performed live on the main stage at the Iowa City Jazz Festival on June 29th.
