Tuesday, May 22, 2018 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm

05/22/2018 6:00pm 05/22/2018 8:00pm DNA Interest Group: Pharmacogenomics - How Genes Inform Drug Therapy Presenter: Bryant McAllister A discussion of how genetic variations can be used to predict an individual’s response to certain pharmacological drugs. The presentation will focus on explaining the link between genetics and drug metabolism, analyzing DTC and clinical pharmacogenomic testing resources, and discussing cases in which pharmacogenomic testing can have an impact on drug therapy. The DNA Interest Group is designed to bring together individuals in the Iowa City area interested in learning about the use and interpretation of commercial DNA test results. Meetings will address a variety of different topical areas, including applications in genealogy, inferences of traits, exploration of human genetic variation, and the societal impact of these services. Meetings will also include group discussions, and are free and open to the public.
