08/11/2018 2:00pm 08/11/2018 3:00pm Lib Con:Shane O'Shaughnessy & Genevieve Trainor - Comic Craft & Community Join us for our first ever comic con for fans of all ages - Lib Con at the Iowa City Public Library! Join Shane and Genevieve for a converstation about comics in the community. Shane O’Shaughnessy has used the non de plume of Rv. Xen since he was fourteen when he became an ordained minister and realized it was aesthetically pleasing to scrawl out five characters instead of eighteen on every piece of paper and canvas which he spilled his ink upon. Rv. Xen began self-publishing with 2005’s minicomic series turned graphic novel, “Bat-Maloy in What’s Left of BoB KANE” followed by “Spuds Malone, Private Eye, Book One” in 2012 and most recently various delirious hot dog adventures of the “Flying Wiener” plus a myriad of commercial and personal work. Born in the Northeast, reared in the Midwest, sojourned to the Northwest, and honeymooned for four years in Hawaii with his beautiful wife Julia, Shane is now back in Iowa City to focus on art and reconnect with all the incredible people here. Genevieve Trainor is a Jersey girl who's been stranded on the prairie for the past 16 years. (Help! Send pizza and irony!) She is Arts Editor at Little Village magazine and an Associate Editor at OneSquared Studios. She also edits the 48 Hour Comic Project. Currently, she is working on the Red Stylo Media anthology A Soul Divided/Caged in Flesh. Genevieve lives in Iowa City, Iowa with her husband, James, a playwright and theater educator, and her three children, Thalia (16), D.C. (14), and Calliope (1). In her free time, she works a day job. This event is made possible by the Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Iowa City Public Library Friends Foundation.
