08/11/2018 11:00am 08/11/2018 12:00pm Lib Con: Speaker Kenzie Cullen- The Art of CosPlay Join us for our first ever comic con for fans of all ages - Lib Con at the Iowa City Public Library! Join the very talented, Kenzie Cullen, for a conversation about the Art of Cos Play. Kenzie is a Lvl 23 cosplayer and pursuing a double major in Outdoor Education and Costuming. She has always been interested in movies, especially any movies that had notable makeup, sets, costuming, she would hunt endlessly through the special features for any insight on the production of the film. She didn’t gain an interest in cosplay until about 2010, and didn’t start cosplaying till 2014. Kenzie states, "The pride I have for cosplay is substantial. I get the chance to prove to myself that costuming is a career I can pursue. I use some incredibly unorthodox methods to finish my costumes, and I couldn’t have asked for better results. Already, the support from my family and friends has been so inspiring to continue working on my costumes! I never would have thought that I could pursue this dream as I have been and it has been extremely rewarding. I truly believe that with enough confidence, research, and ingenuity, any cosplay is possible." This event is made possible by the Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Iowa City Public Library Friends Foundation.
