02/22/2021 6:00pm 02/22/2021 7:30pm Craftivism Stitch-Along with Mari Do you want to learn a new creative skill this winter? Embroidering is a wonderful way to pass the time during the slow winter months, and once you learn a few simple stitches, the embroidery possibilities are endless! We will all start with a basic pattern, but you'll receive a special pen to customize your fabric to add words or design to allow you to express yourself or share your beliefs! For Black History Month we have this special design which you can personalize yourself. Assert your power of craftivism and lay the foundation for many other future projects. Register for this embroidery program with Mari to receive a ready-to-stitch pattern on fabric in a hoop, as well some thread colors to choose from. Follow along on Zoom to learn how to draw out a pattern with a couple tools, how to thread a needle, a few types of stitches and how to finish your project. We will be using a free pattern from DMC which offers hundreds of patterns for all embroidery levels. You might not finish in the time during the Zoom program, but you will have the knowledge and tools needed to complete your first embroidery project. Registrants who attend this program will also be eligible for a 10-punch swim pass through Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department; a partner and co-sponsored host of this program. Inquire and arrange a pickup time for the swim pass by calling Parks and Recreation directly at 319-356-5100. Pickup is available during the month of February and passes do not expire. Kits will be available for pick up beginning February 15th. Iowa City Public Library Iowa City Public Library America/Chicago public
