09/15/2021 6:00pm 09/15/2021 7:00pm The Buddy Dispatch Friend Matching Service for Teens Have you felt lonely and isolated during the pandemic? Sick of staring at screens? Want to meet someone who really understands you? Meet Sam and Ayaat, the founders of a program called the Buddy Dispatch Project. The Buddy Dispatch Program is a pen pal program designed for participants to make a new friend while using letter writing as a therapeutic outlet in a judgement-free zone. The program is meant to facilitate meaningful conversations between buddies by providing them with thought-provoking discussion topics to base their letters on. Writing traditional hand-written letters not only serves therapeutic purposes, but is also a great way to practice your writing skills. Writing about the discussion topics will also help to sharpen your critical thinking skills. The program is a great way to meet a new person with whom you are guaranteed to have a meaningful friendship. If you are interested in joining, attend this information session where the Teen Services Librarian will have applications on hand and stick around for your first live session sampler. Or, if you prefer to attend from home, fill out the application on their website: www.buddydispatch.com. Once you have filled out the application, you will be paired with a buddy and given the information to their bi-weekly live sessions, where they'll share their discussion topics for the week. All writing materials and stamps will be provided and at-home participants can request writing materials and stamps by emailing victoria-fernandez@icpl.org.
