The Johnson County Historic Poor farm west of Iowa City is now home to Grow Johnson County. Their mission is two fold: they combat food insecurity in Johnson County by donating all the produce grown on the farm to hunger relief programs in Johnson county, and they provide their volunteers and interns gain hands-on farming and gardening experience.
Grow Johnson County staff will lead us on a 90+ minute tour of the five-acre farm starting at 9:00am.
Registration is requried, as their parking is limited.
DIRECTIONS: The tour will begin at 9am, so please arrive on time. The farm is located at 4811 Melrose Ave, Iowa City, IA 52246. Take Melrose Ave west past Hwy 218.
