Join us for our July B.Y.O.Book event, where we discuss Robert Kolker's "Hidden Valley Road." Kolker's book studies the development of schizophrenia-related research and treatment in midcentury America by way of the Galvin family, where six brothers all suffered from the disease. Not only a inside look at the effects of schizophrenia on the family and others like them, but the book also offers a glimpse of how the condition has been seen and, at times, ignored and mistreated, throughout history. Library Journal says: "Kolker masterfully combines scientific intrigue with biographical sketches, allowing readers to feel as if they are right there with the Galvins as researchers examine their genes in the quest for answers."

Grab a print copy from our collection, or head over to Overdrive to get an ebook or eaudio (there will be unlimited downloads the month before the event).

Due to the weather forecast (looks a bit warm!), we will meet via Zoom, and a link will be sent out the day of the event.

See you then!
