Tuesday, February 21, 2023 - 6:00pm to 7:00pm
Join us for our February meeting, co-sponsored by the City of Iowa City Office of Equity & Human Rights, where we'll discuss Alice Randall's novel Black Bottom Saints.
Described as "An enthralling literary tour-de-force that pays tribute to Detroit's legendary neighborhood, a mecca for jazz, sports, and politics, Black Bottom Saints is a powerful blend of fact and imagination reminiscent of E.L. Doctorow's classic novel Ragtime and Marlon James' Man Booker Award-winning masterpiece, A Brief History of Seven Killings and Kirkus reviews says that it's an "impassioned, richly detailed, and sometimes heartbreaking evocation of Black culture in 20th century Detroit and beyond."
We'll meet via Zoom at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21. Register at the button above, and the link will be sent out the day of the event. You can find print copies of the book in our collection, and ebook and eaudio on Overdrive and the Libby app.
