Meeting Room A
Troy Willard, the owner/CEO of the Can Shed LLC, in Cedar Rapids, will be here to discuss Iowa's Bottle Bill.
The Can Shed is the largest redemption center in Iowa, and it celebrated it's 20th anniversary in April 2017. The Can Shed serves the needs of consumers retailers and distributors in Iowa's Creative Corridor with walk-in locations in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. Troy has devoted time and energy promoting recycling efforts for many years, lobbying on behalf of redemption centers at the state capital, serving on the Iowa Recycling Association's Board of Directors, and working with the Container Recycling Institute to promote deposit and recycling policy. Collectively, Can Shed facilities serve 300-400 customers daily and provides services to hundreds of businesses, resulting in more than 100 million containers recycled annually. The Can shed also hauls and processes recovered deposit materials from numerous distributors across eastern Iowa, processing more than 12.5 million pounds of material for recycling each year.
