Press ReleaseIowa City Public Library will require masks for all visitors starting August 6

The City of Iowa City will require all visitors to City facilities to wear a mask while inside public buildings beginning Friday, Aug. 6, 2021.

As a public facility, the Iowa City Public Library will follow the latest guidance from the Johnson County Public Health Department, and will require masks for all visitors two years and older to the main building and the Bookmobile. The requirement will be applied regardless of vaccination status.

The decision to require that masks be worn in City facilities was made for the health and safety of visitors to public facilities and for the staff who serve them. All City buildings remain open to the public with the mask policy in effect.

All services from our Phase 5a of the reopening plan currently being offered and scheduled events will not be affected, but masking will be required for those two years and older.
