We welcome Johnson County individuals and groups to create displays for designated spaces in the Library.

Display criteria

Community displays must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Highlight current issues, events or other subjects of public interest.
  • Display high quality original art, crafts, photographs, writings, or interesting collections of Iowans.
  • Explain the activities of local organizations and agencies engaged in educational, recreational, cultural, intellectual, or charitable activities.

All displays must follow our Display Policy.

Display areas

Adults

Accordion walls

Moveable walls that fold like an accordion
  • Mobile double-sided display surface
  • Textile allows for staples, pushpins, or velcro
  • Has 5 panels measuring 21" x 65" each or 105" x 65" all together

T-Walls

T-Walls Display
  • Resealable surface for staples and pushpins
  • All units have three surfaces:
    • 46" wide x 64" tall on the top
    • 54" wide x 64" tall along each side
    • 19" wide x 64" tall on each shorter inside
  • Groups may reserve one or two T-Wall units based on availability

North wall

North Wall Display
  • 9’ tall by 18’ wide wall with a resealable surface for staples and pushpins
  • Hanging art system with rail and wire for framed pieces
  • Two locking glass cases are available for use against the wall; each case has two shelves that are 18” deep, 33.5” wide, and 18” high

Round kiosk

Round Kiosk Display
  • Mix and match to meet your needs:
    • Bulletin board bases and tops for attaching signage
    • Book round to hold handouts and library materials on your topic
    • Large acrylic top to enclose display items
  • All units are 32” in diameter and 102” in circumference. A combination of elements may not exceed 7.5' (90”) in height.

  • Resealable surface for pushpins
  • Dimensions 15’ wide x 8’ tall
  • Must use ladder for installation

Large display case

Large display case
  • Locking case with variable amount of clear shelves
  • Total Dimensions 6.5’ tall x 7.5’ wide with 3 panels with 2 dividers
  • Each shelf is 2.5’ wide, 11” deep, and moveable and up to 4 shelves on each column
  • Textile allows for staples and pushpins, with option to add paper background

Small display case

Small display case
  • Locking case with variable amount of clear shelves
  • Dimensions 6.5’ tall x 5.5’ wide with 2 panels with one middle divider
  • Each shelf is 2.5’ wide, 11” deep, and moveable and up to 4 shelves on each column
  • Textile allows for staples and pushpins, with option to add paper background

Installation

Groups or individuals initiating the display must supply the labor and equipment needed to prepare, mount, and install the display. All displays must include a name and contact information.

The display space must be left in the same condition in which it was found when installing the display. Staff will remove display materials at the end of the scheduled period if not already removed by the individual or group responsible for the display.

Mounting materials

Allowed: Staples, thumbtacks, and push pins
Not allowed: Tape, sticky labels, or nails
