Unique Collections: AV Equipment
The following equipment is available for checkout to residents of Iowa City and areas covered by contracts for service (Hills, University Heights, and rural Johnson County).
Equipment is checked-out and returned to the Checkout Desk. Reservations are not required, but holds may be placed to reserve the next available player. Players may be renewed if there are no outstanding holds in the system.

eAudio Player
Creative Zen media players with a 5GB capacity can be borrowed for 21 days from the Checkout Desk. Each player is rechargable and is supplied with a power adapter, USB cable, and an instruction guide in a nylon carrying case. Headphones are available and packaged separately; ask at the Checkout Desk.
To download eAudioBooks you will need Microsoft Windows, Media Player 10, and a USB port on your computer. There is a download staton available at the Library by the Fiction Desk on the first floor that can be used to download eAudioBooks to any compatible device. CD/Cassette Player
The "Boombox" Players offered by the Library include a radio and will play both audiocassettes and compact discs, but they do not record external audio. The portable CD/Cassette Player can be borrowed for 21 days from the Checkout Desk.
DVD Player
The DVD Player includes an 8" LCD monitor, cables, and an instruction sheet within a nylon carrying case. DVD Players can be borrowed for 7 days from the Checkout Desk.
Blu-ray DVD Player
The Blu-ray DVD player includes a 9" LCD monitor, cables and an instruction sheet with a nylon carrying case. Blu-ray DVD players can be borrowed for 7 days from the checkout desk.

Personal CD Player
ICPL circulates a Personal CD player that is CD, CD-R, and CD/RW compatible and plays regular music CDs and CDs with MP3 files. The player requires 2 "AA" batteries, which are NOT provided. Headphones are available and packaged separately; ask at the Checkout Desk. Players check out for 21 days.
Flip Camera
The Flip is a fixed focus digital video recorder capable of taking up to 60 minutes (2GB) of video. It has a built-in USB for upload to a computer. Batteries are NOT provided. Flip cameras check out for 7 days from the Checkout Desk.

- Eligible cardholders may reserve and checkout equipment in their own name only - identification may be requested and a library card is required for checkout.
- Limits on borrowing ICPL AV Equipment are established and strictly enforced in order to provide wide access to expensive, popular items.
- Patrons whose cards are expired will be blocked from reserving equipment until their cards have been renewed.
- Patrons who have outstanding fines greater than $5 will be blocked from reserving equipment until their fines have been paid.
