ICPL to Host Belly Babies for Expectant Parents

Parents expecting the pitter-patter of little feet are invited to the Iowa City Public Library’s Belly Babies, an early-learning literacy program designed to help families start a reading ritual before the baby arrives.

Beginning Sunday, November 4, and continuing throughout the month, Belly Babies will meet from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. every Sunday in the Storytime Room. Parents will tour the Children’s Room, learn about the five early literacy practices, take home songs and rhymes to do with baby at home, and register for ICPL’s Belly Baby Reads program. In the weeks following, community guests will share helpful information about prenatal yoga, lactation, doulas and baby wearing.

Our complete listing of Belly Babies programs includes the following:

Sunday, November 4: Read to your Belly

Start a reading ritual before the baby arrives.

Sunday, November 11: Prenatal Yoga

Karen Gordon from Dancing Leaves Yoga will teach a 45-minute prenatal yoga class. Please wear comfortable clothing.
