We asked Gloria Lacina a few questions for this “Volunteer Spotlight:”
How long have you been volunteering for the Iowa City Public Library?
Over 15 years.
What do you do at the Library?
Check-in books.
Why did you decide to volunteer at the Library?
I wanted to do a service for the community. I’ve been coming to the Library since I was a little girl. I remember going to the old, old Library. I’ve been through a lot of transitions.
What is your favorite part of the collection?
I read an awful lot of fiction, but I also like biographies and history. I also like classic movies and British period TV series.
What else do you like to do?
I’m a big reader. I also knit, crotchet and bake. I try and walk three miles a day when weather permits.
Thank you, Gloria, for all of your time and hard work!
If you’re interested in volunteering, go www.icpl.org/work or come in to the Library and fill out an application.
It only took 38 years for Zelda to star in a game in a series named after her, but it was worth the wait. Echoes of Wisdom focuses more on puzzles than combat making it a breath of fresh air. This was easily my favorite game for the Switch this year. -Brian
