Library EventRead Woke Book Discussion - Dear Justyce

Teens, join us for an online Read Woke book discussion in partnership with the Cedar Rapids Public Library.

We'll be discussing Dear Justyce, Nic Stone's sequel to Dear Martin. When Justyce McAllister, the protagonist of Dear Martin an Ivy League-bound student is put in handcuffs, despite doing everything right for trying to help his girlfriend out, he turns to the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr to help process his thoughts in his journal. But just how relevant is his work today?
This program is perfect for young adults, parents, college students, and anyone who is interested in the issues African American (predominantly male) young adults face in our country; and learning about the work of Dr. King from a young adult's perspective.

Registration for this online event is required. All registered participants will be emailed the details for joining the discussion online the afternoon of the discussion. A recording of the event will be available on the Iowa City Public Library YouTube Channel.
