02/14/2021 2:00pm 02/14/2021 4:00pm Sunday Fun Day: Tide Pools Important Note: We are no longer offering mail services for the weekly craft, we apologize for this inconvenience. You can still reserve crafts on Monday morning and visit our lobby during business hours to pick up your crafts, library material holds or ask for a surprise book bundle. No need to wait for confirmation, craft reservations will be available immediately at the lobby desks. If you would like crafts but do not want to leave your vehicle, call the library at 319-356-5200 and a staff person can deliver materials to your car, including the weekly craft. For Black History Month, we are featuring a new picture book each week that will be always available to borrow online via our Digital Library collection Overdrive for the entire month of February using the app Libby. This week we are highlighting the book The Vast Wonder of the World: Biologist Ernest Everett Just. Ernest Everett Just was not like other scientists of his time. He saw the whole, where others saw only parts. He noticed details others failed to see. He persisted in his research despite the discrimination and limitations imposed on him as an African American. Read this awesome book and make your own paper plate tide pool to supplement this read! Register for Sunday Fun Day Craft-To-Go Kits from the events page with the registration link below. Kits can be reserved through this calendar event and picked up during our Lobby Grab and Go hours, from 10am-6pm Monday-Saturday and noon-5pm on Sunday. Limit to one kit per child in a household. A new craft kit will be offered every Monday and be available until Saturday or as supplies last, so check out the calendar for new crafts weekly! We also will have extra crafts available in the lobby throughout the week, so if you're not sure if you will be able to come pick up your crafts or miss registration, consider coming to the library to grab one in the lobby.
