04/05/2023 5:00pm 04/05/2023 6:00pm National Poetry Month for Teens- Poetry and Music Every Wednesday in April, Teen Services are celebrating National Poetry Month. ICPL’s own James Grimm will lead our Teen Create-it this month around all kinds of poetry and each session will provide you with an opportunity to leave with something you’ve created. No poetry experience is needed, just an interest. Random prizes will be awarded throughout this series and snacks will be provided. April 5th 5-6 pm- Poetry and Music This week we’re exploring different genres of music and breaking down lyrics of some of our favorites. April 12th 5-6 pm- Poetry and Storytelling Poetry has long been a way to tell stories through verse and prose. James will provide some examples of great storytellers and breakdown why their poetry works so well. April 19th 5-6 pm- Poetry and Expression Poets have always used their words to inspire, uplift, and educate others about what they’re going through. We’ll talk about many ways poets have resisted, informed and voiced important issues of their time. April 26th 5-6 pm- Poetry and Nerds You don’t have know the ins and out of poetry to appreciate this week. We’ll be breaking all kinds of poetry down in an analytical, but fun kind of way.
