Library EventTotally Tweens: Iowa Explorers

Iowa has 99 counties, and they all have a story to tell. Did you know that Mahaska County is home to a rare cemetery just for mules (a cross between a donkey and a horse)? Did you know that Washington County is home to the oldest continually-operating movie theater in the entire world?

Join us for a whirlwind tour through the state using FIND Iowa, a new immersive learning platform developed by Iowa PBS. We'll meet every Monday for 6 weeks and learn something fascinating about a handful of counties each week, till we've worked our way across the state!

First, we'll watch a very short, entertaining video about each county, filmed onsite, that tells us about a specific historical, cultural, or scientific contribution to Iowa. A meteorite that plummeted to earth? A town submerged under a lake? A world-famous wrestler? Learn all about it! Then, we'll reflect on the content with a brief brainstorming prompt. Finally, get hands-on with a fun craft project, game, or experiment related to something we've learned!

首先，我们将通过一个实地拍摄的简短视频了解各县特别的历史、文化或科学贡献。坠落到地球的陨石？淹没在湖底的小镇？世界闻名的摔跤手？所有的一切！然后，我们将进行简短的头脑风暴来回顾视频内容。最后，再通过趣味手工、游戏或实验来亲自体验我们所学到的知识！
