His new book traces the history of the political heritage of Wisconsin, and the overturn when the state went Republican for the first time in three decades in 2010. Kaufman, a Wisconsin native, has been covering the story for several years and traces how the state’s tradition of progressivism was undone. The Iowa City Book Festival is organized by the Iowa City UNESCO City of Literature. Iowa City is one of just 20 Cities of Literature in the world, and the Iowa City Book Festival celebrates books and writing by leveraging the unique mix of local resources that helped to earn that designation.
