B.Y.O.Book, the Iowa City Public Library’s first-ever Books in Bars Book Club meetup, will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at Sanctuary Pub, 405 S Gilbert St. BYOBook

Join librarians Jason Paulios and Candice Smith as they discuss Hilary Mantel's "Wolf Hall.” This Booker Prize-winning novel is the re-imagining of life under Henry VIII, as seen through the eyes of his chief minister, Thomas Cromwell.

There also will be a short beer primer, courtesy of Sanctuary staff.

Can’t make it on March 18? The second B.Y.O.Book meetup will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Brix Cheese Shop & Wine Bar, 209 N. Linn St. Featuring Michael Paterniti’s “The Telling Room: A Tale of Love, Betrayal, Revenge, and the World’s Greatest Piece of Cheese,” this piece of literary non-fiction was named one of the Best Books of 2013 by National Public Radio.

The third and final B.Y.O.Book meetup will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at Motley Cow Café, 160 N. Linn St. This meeting will feature Raymond Chandler’s classic story of seduction and murder, “The Big Sleep.”

Limited copies of all Books in Bars Book Club books available for check out from Information Desk staff on the Library’s second floor.
