The Iowa City Public Library’s Teen Center opens today!

This new space, created especially for teens in grades 7 through 12, will open its doors for after-school hours from 3 to 7 p.m. today, followed by the Edible Books program from 7 to 8 p.m.

The Teen Center is for teens only. It is available during Library hours for teens to hang out, have fun, be creative, and comfortably do homework.

The Library will staff the Center from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday. During these hours,  teen patrons can use the Center’s computers for Internet and general use without having to login with their library card. Teens also can check out laptops and iPads for use within the space. Gaming, including PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, also will be available.

Teens, stop by and check out your room soon!
