How to Check Your Hold Status

Have you made a curbside appointment or mailing request, but aren’t quite sure what will be there when you open the bag? The best way to tell is by checking what you have on hold and whether it’s ready. You can do this from the comfort of your home by following these steps:

  1. Click My Account at the top of our webpage
  2. Use your library card number and password to login
  3. Once logged in, you will see your account page
  4. Select Holds in the left side menu to see a table showing your holds

Now that you’ve found the list of your holds here is how you can tell if they are ready or not. Under the Status heading, there are a variety of things you may see. This is what they mean:

  • A number of a number (such as 1 of 1 or 5 of 6): Your hold is not ready. The first number is where you are on the list of holds, and the second is the total amount of holds on that title.

  • DUE followed by a date (such as DUE 08-26-20): Your hold is not ready. This is the due date for the person in line before you. It does not mean your hold will be ready on that date.

  • CHECKED IN: Your hold is not ready. It is available in the library but staff have not taken it off the shelf yet. The time it takes to get your hold ready varies, even if it is available on the shelf.

  • Ready. Must pick up by followed by a date (such as Ready. Must pick up by 08-10-20): Your hold is ready! You can now schedule a curbside appointment or mail request to collect all of your available holds in one convenient bag or package.

Please wait until your hold is ready before scheduling a curbside appointment or submitting a mailing request. If you have more than one hold ready, we will give you all of them during your appointment or in your package. Your holds may not be ready as quickly as they have been in the past, so placing a hold in the morning will not guarantee it will be ready for an afternoon curbside pickup time.

If you have any questions about curbside appointments or requesting your holds by mail, you can read our Holds FAQ, or Ask Us.
