Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur for Kids

Rosh Hashanah (Sun Sep 25 - Tues Sep 27) is the Jewish New Year. A time of reflection for all Jews, the holiday is celebrated with foods like apples and honey, prayers and special services, and the blowing of the shofar (the ram's horn). Yom Kippur (Tues Oct 4 - Wed Oct 5) is the holiest, most important day of the Jewish year. Known as the Day of Atonement, it ends the ten days of penitence that began with Rosh Hashanah. Reflection, showing compassion, seeking forgiveness, and searching for ways to personally improve are part of this holiday, which is also recognized by fasting. Celebrate, recognize, and learn more about these holidays with the children in your life by checking out one of these children's books.
