Join ICPL staff and members of the Cedar Amateur Astronomers for a special ICPL Astronomy Night event at the Observatory at the Palisades-Dows Preserve.
Members of the CAA will give tours of the facility beginning at 8:30 pm followed by a short program about what’s in the night sky at this time of year, including constellations and other objects of interest. Then we’ll tour the telescopes and everyone will get multiple chances to look through them. If the sky is clear enough, we might also be able to see Jupiter rise around 10pm.
ATTENDANCE IS LIMITED. ADVANCE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED, and begins May 1st. See icpl.org/calendar or call the Library to register. The observatory is located at 1365 Ivanhoe Road, Ely Iowa. 41.8885° N, 91.4986° W
If you need disability-related accommodations in order to participate in this event, please contact the Library.
This event is open to the public.
