03/18/2021 4:00pm 03/18/2021 5:30pm March Family Night: Family Painting with Brush and Barrel Family Night activities include ready to-go kits that can be picked up during our Lobby Grab and Go hours, Monday-Saturday 10am-6pm and Sundays 12-5pm. Look for a new activity each month, and you can even request a book bundle with five items to supplement the activity that can be enjoyed by the whole family! When you register, make a plan to pick up the kit the week of the event. March is National Crafting Month, so we are partnering up with our friends at Brush and Barrel to offer a guide along paint afternoon for the whole family! Brush and Barrel will prepare paint kits to be picked up at the library ahead of time and a Zoom tutorial on March 18th to create your new family-created masterpiece, a Picasso-style polyptych where each member paints a different face or body part and they can hang it in whatever orientation they want. The kit will come with a mix of vibrant colors and we can teach the family how to change the color value. Important Notes: Paint programs are usually 60-90 minutes of guided instruction with the youngest age being 5 years old. There is a real developmental milestone around the 5-6 year mark where kids start to thrive in painting classes. If you do not have children in elementary school, this is not the program for you. Since this event has a Zoom component, materials must be picked up before the event. Iowa City Public Library Iowa City Public Library America/Chicago public
