07/11/2023 7:00pm 07/11/2023 8:00pm Let's Talk Books: Retellings / Classics Reimagined Whether it is an recognizable adaptation or a complicated new treatment that has new characters or a new setting, reading a retelling of a story you already know can be a lot of fun. Seeing well known characters act in new ways, or stories told from a different perspective makes a familiar story brand new. A great examples is The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz by L. Frank Baum became Wicked: The Life and times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire, which the became the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Wicked. Not a traditional book group, Let's Talk Books is a series of casual online conversations about books. We meet on Zoom the 2nd and 4th Tuesday evening of each month and the genre or theme for the discussion changes each time. We each bring a few titles to share, and by the end of the discussion we all have a few new titles on our to-be-read lists. Register here and you'll receive a confirmation email with the Zoom login details. You'll also get a reminder email a few days before the event. Everyone is welcome!
