09/26/2023 7:00pm 09/26/2023 8:00pm Let's Talk Books: High Fantasy There are many subgenre* of Fantasy Fiction. High fantasy and Low fantasy are two of the basics. Low fantasy are stories set in our normal world but where magic or other supernatural elements exist. High Fantasy takes place on an alternate, entirely fictional, world that has its own sets of rules, physical laws than on our world. There are typically lots of magical elements, fantastical creatures, and unusual technology. High Fantasy is similar to Epic Fantasy, but is not quite as “epic.” *some other Fantasy subgenre : Magical Realism, Urban Fantasy, Romantic Fantasy, Horror Fantasy, Steampunk, Science Fiction Fantasy, Grimdark and Fairy Tales. Let's Talk Books is not a traditional book group. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month on Zoom to talk about our favorite books in a specific genre or on a set topic, and we each come away with some new titles to add to our too-be-read lists.
