Join us for Collaboration, Community & Craft, a panel at the Iowa City Songwriters Festival hosted by Katie Roche, Director of the ICPL Friends Foundation and musician with Awful Purdies and The Dandelion Stompers. The panel features leadership from the Family Folk Machine—Jean Littlejohn (Artistic and Executive Director), Alma Drake (Associate Director and veteran songwriter with a 50-year career), and Nicole Upchurch (Director of Kids’ Curriculum and musician with The Feralings and Awful Purdies). Together, they’ll share insights on building musical community through intergenerational collaboration and creative process. Unlike traditional choirs, Family Folk Machine works with its members to shape original songs into choral arrangements, empowering songwriters and celebrating collective creativity. Enjoy coffee, juice, and pastries while learning how this beloved Iowa City group weaves song, connection, and craft into its work. Learn more at familyfolkmachine.org.
