Need help filing your 2021 income tax? VITA is here to help!
The IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program offers free tax help to people who generally make $57,000 or less, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers from UI's College of Business provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.
VITA is currently accepting requests for tax preparation using one of three methods:
- No-contact. 100% virtual service using fillable forms.
- Low contact. VITA mails you forms, you complete them and drop them off. Drop-off locations haven’t been announced yet.
- Face-to-face. Join a waiting list for an in-person appointment, starting in March at the earliest.
Start by filling out the online form at biz.uiowa.edu/vita
This session is for taxpayers who have already 1. filled out the online VITA Form Request, 2. selected the low contact method, 3. received forms in the mail from VITA, and 4. filled out their forms. VITA volunteers will meet briefly with taxpayers to receive and check their forms and tax documents.
For more information, visit biz.uiowa.edu/vita, call 319-335-0857, or email vita@uiowa.edu.
