Press ReleaseICPL announces June Classes for Adults

Want to know more about your family’s heritage? In the month of June, the Iowa City Public Library will have classes for the amateur genealogist. These classes will introduce patrons to the process for organizing their research and using the Library’s genealogy resources including Ancestry.com.

Join us at 10 a.m. Friday, June 3, for the “Introduction to Genealogy” class. Get your search started in the right direction by learning which questions to ask and how to record and keep track of your research. You will also find out the best resources to use when finding your ancestors.

Beginning or in the midst of a genealogy project?  You can come to the Library’s “Using Ancestry.com for Genealogy” class on Friday, June 13, at 2 p.m. or Tuesday, June 21 at 10 a.m. Learn how to use our online genealogy resources like Ancestry.com and HeritageQuest to help solve your family tree mysteries. These resources can be accessed at the Library for free without purchasing a subscription.

All classes for adults are held in the Library’s Computer Lab on the second floor. Classes are free, but space is limited, so patrons should register early.

Visit www.icpl.org/classes to register online. You can also register by calling the Library at 319-356-5200.
